Ayurveda

Why are some people, who appear to lead very healthy lifestyles, just as susceptible to illness as those who live on a cocktail of junk food, stress and sedentary pursuits? Genetic inheritance may play a part but according to Ayurveda – an ancient Indian holistic system of medicine – ill health is rooted in a lack of self-knowledge which disrupts the flow of prana (energy, or life force). Ayurveda (Sanskrit for knowledge, or science, of life) not only helps us develop self-knowledge, but also offers a unique system of cleansing and regeneration to aid healing and maintain good health. Polarity Therapy

Posted by dr natural On October - 7 - 20081 COMMENT

Polarity therapy was developed in the late 1940s by an Austrian osteopath, chiropractor and naturopath called Dr Randolph Stone, who ran a healing practice in Chicago.

Dr Stone studied many Eastern health systems, such as traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda and yoga, all of which work with the body’s energy. But he wanted to know what stimulated the flow of energy.

“Two years ago I started to get recurrent cystitis,” says Melanie. “Every two or three weeks it would come on and last for about a week. It was painful and depressing, and it was wearing me down. I had another two treatments to make sure the improvement was lasting, and I have never had cystitis since.” Read the rest of this entry »

In fact, spiritual healing (sometimes called ‘natural healing’ or ‘faith healing‘) is arguably the oldest type of healing known to man. In various forms it has been practiced around the world for thousands of years. In common with many other age-old practices, it has been neglected in the West over the past century or so. Only recently has it been rediscovered. Read the rest of this entry »

Chiropractic

The man who started chiropractic in the 1890s was Daniel David Palmer, a student of Andrew Taylor Still – the founder of osteopathy. Palmer devised his own approach, putting much more emphasis on the local mechanics of the spine rather than on the overall posture, bones and muscles. Palmer’s first patient was a caretaker with a stooping posture who had lost his hearing. Palmer found a bone apparently out of position in the man’s back, manipulated it into place and his hearing returned. The word chiropractic is derived from the Greek words ‘cheiro’ (hand) and ‘praktos’ (action). Read the rest of this entry »
