Breathlessness
Breathlessness may be caused by a physical illness affecting the chest, like asthma, or a respiratory infection, or by stress, anxiety or panic. Unfit or overweight people can become breathÂless after little exertion. If you get sudden, unexplained breathlessness, consult your doctor. Deep breathing and relaxation exercises such as those taught in yoga can be beneficial.
Dietary Advice To Avoid Breathlessness
Everyone benefits from a wholefood diet with lots of fruit and vegetables, and very little red meat and dairy produce. You should also take a good quality multivitamin and mineral supplement. Cut down on caffeine and alcohol and try to stop smoking.
Complimentary Natural Remedies For Breathlessness
Try one dose of the homeopathic remedy Aconite 30c for breathlessness and anxiety, if you are distressed after a bad shock, or on the verge of a panic attack. Expect a quick response, usually within 30 minutes. If the problem relates to recurrent anxiety with a feeling of uneasiness in the chest and stomach, try Arsenicum album 6c every 2 hours for up to 10 doses.
An aromatic bath using 6 to 8 drops frankincense, rose Otto, Scots pine, (some other varieties of pine can irritate the skin), lavender, cypress or cedarwood can help with breathlessness linked with stress or infection. Put 2 drops of one of these oils on a tissue and inhale as needed. Try a back or chest massage using 10 drops of one of the oils (5 to 6 drops rose Otto) in 25 ml carrier oil.
