Natural Remedies For Burns

Posted by dr natural On November - 15 - 2008

Burns

Burns can be divided into three categories. First degree burns cause redness and swelling on the surface; second degree burns cause blistering; third degree burns damage the underlying tissue. Third degree burns and second degree burns that are bigger than the palm of a hand need immediate medical attention. Do not try to burst blisters, remove burnt clothing, or apply butter to the burn. Cool first and second degree burns at once by immersing them in cold water or holding them under a cold tap for 10 minutes.

Dietary Advice For Burns

A conscious person with mild to moderate burns should be given plenty of water to drink, to replace lost fluids. Taking vitamin C after a burn can help to speed the healing process.

Complimentary Natural Remedies For Burns

When the burn has been cooled and cleaned, apply a few drops of neat lavender or tea tree oil to ease the pain and speed healing. Cover with a sterile dressing.

Aloe vera gel is excellent for cooling and healing burns, and honey is also a natural healing agent. Spread the aloe vera or honey thinly over the burn and cover with a dressing.

For minor or superficial burns try urtica urens or vitamin E cream. Homeopathic remedies are useful. Try Arnica 30c every 15 minutes for up to 3 doses if there is searing pain and blistering, and follow with Cantharis 30c every 15 minutes for up to 6 doses. If the burn causes continuous stinging pain, try Urtica 6c every 15 minutes for up to 10 doses. Take a few drops of Rescue Remedy for shock.
