Natural Remedies For Dry and Dehydrated Skin

Dry and Dehydrated Skin

Drinking too much coffee and alcohol, smoking, harsh weather and centrally heated environments can all contribute to dry skin.

Dietary Advice For Dry and Dehydrated Skin

Drinking 1 to 2 liters of water a day can help cleanse and rehydrate the body.

Essential fatty acids help prevent water loss and keep skin cells plump. They are found in nuts and seeds, oily fish, soy beans, sunflower and evening primrose oil. Skin also needs nourishment from vitamins A, C and E, selenium and zinc.

A balanced diet high in fresh fruit and vegetables, fish and wholegrains should provide most of your nutrients, but a daily multivitamin and mineral supplement can help. Cut down on processed and fatty foods, coffee, salt, dairy produce and alcohol.

Complementary Remedies For Dry and Dehydrated Skin

Three times a week, before a bath, apply a layer of plain honey to your face. While you relax in the bath the honey draws moisture from the steam in the air to rehydrate your skin. Rinse with lukewarm water. Then mix together, in a bottle, 20 ml sweet almond oil with 4 evening primrose oil capsules and 3 drops of chamomile or rose otto oil. Shake well and massage into your face, using circular movements. It would really help if you regularly use dry skin formula body lotion.
