Frizzy Hair
Frizzy hair is often curly hair that is over-dry, over-processed, neglected or abused. Both naturally curly hair and permed hair also tend to frizz in damp weather. One of the best ways to tame frizzy hair is to have it cut into a soft, layered style that makes the most of your natural curl, rather than forcing your hair into a style that is hard to maintain. A regular trim will keep split ends to a minimum and help prevent it becoming dry and brittle at the ends. If your hair is dry and fragile, limit your use of hot hair dryers, tongs and rollers as much as possible and keep chemical processing to a minimum. Avoid using rubber bands.
Dietary Advice For Frizzy Hair
Silica helps improve the strength of hair that breaks and frizzes easily. Healthy hair also needs other nutrients such as iron, zinc and B vitamins. A balanced diet rich in protein, fruit, vegetables and wholefoods is the best source of these nutrients. However, if you have particularly brittle or damaged hair you could supplement with a multivitamin and mineral complex, containing the nutrients mentioned above, or choose a product specially formulated for hair care.
Complimentary Remedies For Frizzy Hair
Use the following home-made protein pack to moisturize and protect your hair. It will help reduce frizziness by nourishing and rehydrating the hair and smoothing down the cuticles to give hair a sleek appearance. Mix 2 egg yolks with 100 ml warm water (not hot, as this sets the eggs). Stir in a few teaspoons of clear honey (an excellent moisturizer), 3 drops sandalwood and 2 drops rosemary oil. Bend over the sink and apply the mixture to your hair, working it through to the ends. Wrap your hair in a towel or shower cap and leave for an hour. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and towel-dry. Use the pack twice a week after shampooing. If pregnant, avoid rosemary oil.
